My eyes red lasering
half wings soaring heavenward to
these threaded grey
skies

I knew you once before
movie theatres and
streaming services shaped my
religion and what you
should be

This is the universe
of marvels or so they
say
or someone else’s universe
perchance

I see no marvels here
in the world around us clawing
at the images that shape reality’s
expectation

These dreams are tissue thin
my love and gone
like yesterday
and tomorrow
